Joe Klauder, founder and President of K College Sports Consulting, LLC, brings two decades of experience in NCAA Division I athletics and selective college admission to his clients. 

 

After a successful career as an NCAA Division I student-athlete, Joe began a career in athletic administration garnering a variety of roles at various NCAA Division I institutions.  Joe served as a senior leader within athletic administration, oversaw numerous sports as a sport administrator, and managed a Division I NCAA Compliance and Recruiting office.  During his career in higher education, Joe also served as Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission at a NCAA Division I institution. This unique combination of professional and personal experience has allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the needs of student-athletes seeking to compete at the highest levels. 

Throughout his career in athletic administration, Joe has specialized in NCAA compliance.  As the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Recruiting, Joe was responsible for mastering the intricacies of NCAA rules as it pertained to recruiting, academic eligibility, and financial aid.  In this area of expertise, Joe was responsible for providing education of all NCAA, conference, and university rules to all student-athletes, athletic department staff, coaches, and the prospective student-athletes being recruited.

Joe has developed a deep understanding of how college coaches operate and what they expect from prospective recruits and current players. Through his close work with collegiate coaches from more than 25 sport programs, Joe oversaw the recruiting efforts of their programs, hosted rules education sessions, served as their sport administrator, worked with them through player and program issues, and fielded countless questions regarding policies, procedures and rules.  

Joe has also gained a broad perspective on the mindsets and needs of a wide variety of student-athletes through his countless interactions with student-athletes through their collegiate academic and athletic journey.  Being a voice for student-athletes has always been a priority for Joe throughout his career; he has served on various NCAA and university committees regarding student welfare, student-athlete mentoring, student-athlete advisory, academic progress toward degree, and strategic planning. He has provided advice and guidance to thousands of student-athletes as they navigate the complexities of the NCAA rules, as well as the academic, social, and athletic challenges that college student-athletes face.  

 

Finally, Joe’s work as a senior leader in a selective college admission office exposed him to all aspects of the college admission process. Working with both student-athletes and non student-athletes in this capacity, Joe reviewed applications, interviewed students, and provided advice to students and families navigating their college search. Recognized for his expertise in admission and his ability to connect with students, Joe has presented at workshops on the college essay and interview process, how best to navigate the college process, and balancing athletics and academics.  

 

From the recruitment and admission process, to the four-year journey of a college athlete, Joe’s expertise allows him to provide comprehensive guidance to clients about all facets of their college experience.  

 

Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications from Robert Morris University, a Master of Business Administration from Providence College, and is presently working towards his Doctorate in Instructional Management and Leadership.

Joe resides in Fairfield, Connecticut with his wife Melissa and their two children Luke and Lucy.
